Yes, it is a requirement that the participant is cleanshaven for respirator fit testing, Workers must also be cleanshaven every time they are using a tight-fitting respirator on the work site.
How often do I need to be fit tested?
Workers must get fit tested at least annually. Workers may require more frequent fit testing if they want to use different types of respirators or if their facial characteristics change.
What type of respirator requires fit testing?
All tight-fitting respirators require fit testing, which includes disposable P2, half-face Re-usable P2 and full-face P3 respirators.

Portacount is a respirator fit testing equipment that is used for quantitative respirator fit testing. Quantitative respirator fit testing measures the amount of air seal leakage when the participant is wearing the respirator.
